Nuklear Power Nuklear Power 2024-02-13T13:46:44Z http://www.nuklearpower.com/feed/atom/ WordPress Brian! http://www.nuklearpower.com <![CDATA[You nerds might enjoy this]]> http://www.nuklearpower.com/?p=8698 2024-02-13T13:46:44Z 2024-02-13T13:46:44Z For Zinequest this year I’m doing a little something called 8-BIT THEATER THE ROLEPLAYING GAME WHERE YOU’RE THE LIGHT WARRIORS GETTING ISEKAI’D TO SAVE A BUNCH OF WORLDS BUT IT ALWAYS GOES WRONG BECAUSE THEY ARE REAL BAD AT THIS.

Or, simply, 8BTTRPGWYTLWGITSABOWBIAGWBTARBAT for short.

The gameplay loop is simple. When Light Warriors Do Things they will eventually cause Collateral Damage that makes everything around them so much worse, so they’ve got to Do More Things to work around The Horrible Consequences they’ve inflicted upon the world, but this is literally a vicious cycle that inevitably leads to realizing Oh Ye Gods What Hath We Wrought.

TLDR the game is tuned to encourage you to do terrible/stupid things that will almost always backfire so you can spend most of your time laughing at one another. Honestly, I’m not sure if it’s feasible to “win” but we made it so failure is fun and hilarious the whole time so who cares.

BAD MOONS RISING cover featuring our main characters in a hover car being pursued by very fascist cops!

Brian! http://www.nuklearpower.com <![CDATA[Hey, look at this new thing I’m working on]]> http://www.nuklearpower.com/?p=8672 2020-10-07T18:37:36Z 2020-10-07T18:35:53Z You ever get a hankerin’ to read about a dysfunctional band of “heroes” who are the main problem that needs to be stopped before it dooms the whole kingdom?

Oh, I’m sorry, how embarrassing. Did you think I was talking about the classic webcomic 8-bit Theater?

You fool. You absolute moron.

No, I’m talking about the all-new sensation…

Our main characters are a lovable troupe of circus performers who are actually petty criminals using their circus to distract slack-jawed rubes from being pickpocketed for a few days until the troupe disappears in the night before they’re suspected of wrongdoing. And then they start the scam all over again in the next village!

ARISE, YE SKELETON KING is the story of how that scheme goes bad, then goes real good, and then nearly brings about a new age of doom and death.

If you’re the kind of trash goblin who loves a story about other trash goblins who catastrophe their way straight to the top — and if you’re reading this then sorry to say, yeah, you are — then this is the story for you!

It’s written by me and ATOMIC ROBO editor Lee Black, drawn by Escher Cattle, and lettered by Tess Stone. We’re running a Kickstarter for the first chapter. It’ll get you 40 pages of bickering jerks plus lots of other goodies. Check out the vid, our rewards, the stretch goals, you know the drill.

Long time no blog! I hope everyone is doing well. Then again, the kind of person who is still reading this comic is obviously an unbalanced maniac. At least that’s the impression I get from meeting you guys at conventions.

I kid, I mostly kid.

Things are still trucking along in the world of Atomic Robo. We’ve got a Kickstarter running right now to collect our newest stories into fancy hardcovers. Check out the campaign!

And best of luck with that unbalanced mania.

Brian! http://www.nuklearpower.com <![CDATA[Fellowship looks like a fun game]]> http://www.nuklearpower.com/?p=8617 2017-09-06T21:19:07Z 2015-09-11T14:54:13Z Check out the Kickstarter campaign for Fellowship. It’s by the good folks who brought you Inverse World.

Fellowship is a Lord of the Rings kind of structure that isn’t tied to a Lord of the Rings kind of world. Also the GM kind of gets to play a character too, but there’s rules to how that works so it’s actually fun for the GM to play, and entertaining for the PCs to interact, and useful to the game as a whole rather than the usual, y’know, GMPC who gets all the best trench coats and katanas.

Fellowship is already fully funded, so at this point you’re getting a complete game guaranteed. The higher we can push their funding, the more goodies we can get. It’s win-win.

XO by Jumpdrive Studios.

Sort of a space fleet RTS thing, which is a genre I love, but then every game turns into a complete disaster. I can never tell if I just suck at them or if these games’ systems tend to get in the way of actually playing them. XO looks to get around that by streamlining its systems rather than simplifying its gameplay.

Do you like conventions? Do you like gaming? Because there’s this tabletop gaming convention called Big Bad Con that’s pretty cool. And it has the added benefit of contributing to charities.

I’ve not been, because it’s on the opposite side of the country and I don’t truck with heathen timezones. But I know a lot of folks who have been, and they had a great time. It’s a smaller event, but I find y’kinda want that in a gaming show. Gives you a chance to check out stuff more in-depth and to really get your hands dirty tinkering and feedbacking on up and coming games. Like GTA V, Download GTA V android game for free : http://apkgamescrak.com/grand-theft-auto-v/

They’re running a Kickstarter to make this year’s show the best one yet. They surpassed their goal pretty quickly, so now it’s just a matter of adding as many bells and whistles as possible. Check it out. Even if you aren’t in the area or don’t plan to attend, there’s nothing wrong with supporting independent gaming and charity at the same time.

Here’s the current list of stretch goals…

What an assortment of neat things WOW.

Brian! http://www.nuklearpower.com <![CDATA[Little update]]> http://www.nuklearpower.com/?p=8604 2015-05-21T13:01:06Z 2015-05-21T13:01:06Z Okay!

Matt Speroni’s The Dreadful is on hiatus. Our cobbled together version of ComicPress only sorta ever worked, and now that we swapped servers it’s gone into full on Not Gonna Work mode. It’s just as well since Matt broke his damn drawing arm in three places, like, the day before we found out ComicPress was being goofy.

I can’t tell if that’s a lucky coincidence or not. On the one hand, no one’s to blame for the hiatus since it’d be happening either way. On the other hand, ouch. Get well soon, Matt.

In sunnier news, the Atomic Robo Hardcovers Kickstarter Campaign s going well. Scott shared some of the process behind the redesign for a couple covers here and here. The next stretch goal will bump the pagecount of THE SECRET FILES OF DR. DINOSAUR in every volume from four to six for fifty-four pages total.

There’s a stack of more stretch goals planned, and oh my goodness, we’re getting into some amazing territory soon.
